Learning Where Disease Stems From

Dis-ease

If you break the word Disease down, it word for word translates to dis-ease. This is the beginning in understanding where disease truly stems from.

Our bodies were created so intricately and detailed - that when given the right environment & circumstances, I believe our body’s natural inclination is to find its balance and thrive. The issues lies within the fact that most of us are not giving our bodies the ideal environment and circumstances to reach their full potential and simply be at ease.

While disease is often the culmination of many different aspects built up over time, the true cause of disease roots in a deep lack of ease within our mind and body.

Most people attribute illness and disease with physical components, but this is not always the case, nor is it ever pure physical aspects that were the problem. Our mind and body are elaborately connected and our thoughts alone can affect the physical state of our body. Thoughts of discontentment, of anxiety, of distress, all physically alter the cells in our body the minute they enter the mind. This is why understanding your emotional state is so vital in understanding physical symptoms occurring in your body. The body wants to find its balance and be at ease, so when disease shows itself, it is the body’s way of alerting you that you have lost its equilibrium.

This does not mean that anytime we experience feelings of stress, sadness, or anxiety that disease will culminate in our body. However, if left unaddressed for a long enough time and these feelings become the body’s new normal, paired with unhealthy food choices, poor sleep, etc, this is where problems arise.

Finding Ease

It is more than normal to experience high and low seasons in life, but that is different than living out of alignment with your true passions, values, desires and intentions for an extended period of time. Being at ease does not mean that everything is perfect and you do not face hardship, but it does mean that you are actively pursuing a life, a job, friendships, relationships and living in a place that feels good and true to who you are.

When we are living aligned, life becomes easier, more simple, and more energized, as instead of trying to force something that doesn’t belong, we let life unfold in a way that it was always supposed to.

When our mind is at ease, everything becomes clearer, decisions become easier, and pursuing health feels less of a task and more of a desire. This is because it takes less effort to feel physically better now that the mind has entered a state of balance. It might be difficult to contemplate the interconnectedness of everything now, but the minute you begin to weave out the things, habits, people or places no longer serving you, it has a domino affect on how you feel not only mentally, but physically.

When you pair this practice of finding mental ease with consuming nutritionally dense foods, moving your body and surrounding yourself with good people, you are on your way to achieving a life of vibrant health.
